WHAT IS ORIGIN?

Based in the Southeastern US, Origin Archaeological Research (OAR) is an independent, non-commercial research firm bridging the gap between cultural resource preservation and advanced technology. OAR exists to empower researchers, academic institutions, and cultural resource management (CRM) firms by providing specialized technical assets to the archaeological community.

OAR was first established in 2019 as a collaborative research initiative between archaeologists and wilderness medicine professionals. Recognizing that fieldwork often takes place in remote or demanding environments, our founders teamed up to combine archaeological methods with practical field safety.

What began as a dedicated research organization focused on safe, compliant field practices naturally grew into the structured technical firm that OAR is today. From the beginning, our goal has been to support research teams efficiently while operating in strict compliance with state archaeological guidelines, protecting both cultural resources and the crews documenting them.

REGULATORY & PARTNERSHIP DISCLOSURE

Origin Archaeological Research (OAR) provides technical support, remote sensing, and research services. We do not currently conduct compliance-driven Cultural Resource Management (CRM) surveys or issue archaeological assessments requiring SHPO approval.

We are an independent, non-commercial entity designed to serve as a high-utility subcontractor or collaborator. We welcome the opportunity to partner with or subcontract under SOI-qualified professionals for regulatory-compliant projects.
