Rooted in the Southeast, built for both land and sea: the Foundations of Origin

Unifying Land, Water, and Science

Since our inception in 2019, Origin has operated as an independent, collaborative research organization. Founded through a unique partnership between archaeologists and wilderness medicine professionals, our initial focus was simple: bridging the gap between rigorous fieldwork, practical crew safety, and strict compliance with state guidelines.

Over the years, our research initiatives have naturally expanded. As our methodologies matured and our network of interdisciplinary specialists grew, we realized our identity needed to match the full scope of our capabilities.

Today, we are proud to introduce a complete rebrand of our firm and a refined vision for our future.

Expanded Capabilities, Clear Parameters

Our transformation brings a highly structured, dual-gradient approach to how we handle cultural heritage. We have organized our core field operations to serve as an elite technical engine for the wider archaeological community across two distinct environments:

  • OAR On Land: Streamlining terrestrial tech deployments, geospatial mapping, and predictive landscape modeling.

  • OAR Underwater: Providing specialized maritime research, target ground-truthing, and diving support.

Preserving Our Research Roots

To our long-term readers and colleagues: our archive isn’t going anywhere.

The field notes, methodology reviews, and safety updates that formed our foundation remain fully intact. They represent the building blocks of our firm. Moving forward, this archaeological journal will continue to host our research, but will also expand to feature project updates, technical insights, and announcements from our laboratory and affiliates.

While our look has evolved, our core mission remains exactly the same: protecting the integrity of the past, ensuring the absolute safety of the crew, and operating in total compliance with state archaeological standards.
